The Taipan (Oxyuranus scutellatus)

The Taipan is normally shy and retiring. However, if threatened it will bite repeatedly.

Due to its large fangs, potent venom, huge venom yield and wide distribution, it is regarded as Australia’s most dangerous snake.

Taipans are found in wet and dry forests and open savannah. Taipans lay 7-20 eggs. Hatchling Taipans measure 40cm.
