NORTHERN SNAKE-NECKED TURTLE
Chelodina rugosa

Occupies swamps and billabongs in coastal floodplains of northern Australia.

In some locations eggs are laid underwater when floodwaters are receding, and embryo development stops until the ground dries.

Aestivates in mud during the dry season.
